Early spring 2019 was filled with new clients, new work and new facilities. KS was awarded four projects from our new client Vectren—A CenterPoint Energy Company based in Evansville, IN. Vectren is an energy holding company providing natural gas and electric services to over 1 million residential and business customers in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. Between the four projects, there is about 22,000 feet of main and approximately 400 services that will need to be renewed. Three of the projects were bare steel cast iron projects, with accelerated main replacement. The fourth one was a modernization project, which focused on coated steel, ineffective coating, and issues that may affect the longevity of the piping. In early May 2019, the teams started on a new large transmission project near Louisville, KY, running partially into Indiana as well. Part of the project included three regulating stations that needed to be rebuilt and installed. The other part of the project was a rock bore that consisted of 1,000 feet of 16” steel and several miles of hydro testing.
Due to the increase in clients and new work, KS signed a lease for a new office in Fairborn, OH as of February 1, 2019. Also, an all-encompassing training center was built in Cincinnati, OH to help leverage the need to train our new employees who would be working on our new projects. The training center is equipped with anything and everything that would be needed to successfully complete the jobs in the field, from plastic fusion to tapping and bagging, to excavation which you can look here, and backfilling. This training center has given the teams the opportunity to assimilate, train and qualify right on site. With all the hard work from our area managers and their teams, KS has made huge commitments with Vectren to grow and nurture the partnership.
